Her conclusion was to treat pain at its source—inflammation and abnormality of nerves and inflamed joints. These, in turn, cause muscle spasms and limited function in joints to which the muscles are attached, causing impairment and disability.
It is her opinion that the inflamed nerves and the muscle spasms are better treated with medications and also with physical medicine modalities and neuromuscular rehabilitation procedures to ultimately achieve joint mobility and function and independence in activities of daily living.
Her Qualifications
Dr. Monica Mehta is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, and a Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a clinical assistant professor at New York Medical College.
